The first drawing I've done in nearly 3 years. Just randomly woke up one morning and drew this. I may get back into art...
I hate the eyes though, I need to stay away from the whole anime style. Got into drawing when I was really young and so anime appealed to me at the time, but now I'd prefer more realistic/stylized stuff.
looks great! If this was inspired by my picture below it means pisshap is already working!! :D
ReplyDeleteif you wanna lose the comic style, i suggest drawing with your eyes closed or make yourself keep the pencil on the page, or do a bunch of doodles from
posemaniacs.com
basically just force yourself to stay away from old shapes/strokes through limiting your senses. Ima draw some shit with my eyes closed now and post it lol :p
owait bad advice from me, eyes closed an stuff is to loosen up. but your pictures will look like crap lol
ReplyDeleteI'm no expert, but in addition to the eyes-closed thing; focusing on a subject you're trying to draw while not looking at the paper can help with getting out of your comfort zone.
ReplyDeleteIt can accentuate your mental preconceptions of what you're drawing and what you're looking at, even when half the time you don't think you're being unconciously guided.
It also just generally helps eye-hand coordination and crap. Don't expect it to look good though obviously, it's a learning exercise. See how you're placing elements of the subject via just the feel of the medium. (I found this always worked best with self-portraits, easy to do and a willing model. :P)
I don't recommend posemaniacs though, the poses they choose for the 3D models on that site are generally terrible, I suppose at a stretch if it's all you can get, then it's alright, but really you can just get outside and draw some real folks as much as you can.
Oops, I need to learn to proof-read. I meant "half the time you don't think you're being unconciously guided even when you are looking at both the subject and drawing."
